I’m Theresa Stirling, beeswax painter, mama, and devoted to peanut butter & chocolate! Working closely with collectors and interior designers, I have been painting with beeswax and fire for over 15 years; still enchanted.
My process is an honest one, with honest materials. Slowly heating beeswax and pure pigments; layering brushstrokes of hot wax over birch panel, then firing it. It is primal, mesmerizing, ancient-yet-contemporary. There is a complexity to the simplicity of my work; due to the 10,000+ hours I’ve put in. Showing up each day; serving collectors in a concierge-level way. My graphics designer and I digitally suggest how the piece may look, and keep the process accessible. My PNW studio gives back to animal shelters, education and teens. Purpose driven, nature-inspired. Being self taught has its advantages, keeping things ‘loosely tight,’ is now my hallmark. Content creating full-time, with creamy coffee & a snoring dog.
A great space with big windows, fireplace, music, a slouchy couch & coffee table; a sleeping dog. Choregraphed chaos, most days.
Tables are filled with hot wax plates, paint brushes, blowtorches, pigments and current art projects. Busy year-round, the studio feels relaxing, inspired, prolific and welcoming. The studio shows a creative life, with purpose. Here is a recent video.
